Question:
How do I know if I have 2.4 ghz or 5ghz wifi network?
Answer:
Most routers have a dual band wifi network that supports 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wifi network. Since all Sifely Smart Lock products are compatible with 2.4 GHz wifi network only, this article will help you to check if you are connecting to 2.4 GHz wifi network.
Check the name of your wifi network using your smartphone or laptop. Sometimes it’s indicated in the wifi name if the network is 5G. For example: Home_Wifi_network2.4G, Home_Wifi_network5G OR Home_Wifi_Network etc.
Please choose the wifi name with 2.4Ghz and do not choose a name with 5G in the Wifi name.
If these options are not available on your wifi name, please follow other methods below.
Using smartphone via wifi settings
Step One: Connect your phone to the available wifi network.
Step Two: Go to Settings > Wifi > Network details. Check the frequency band connected network to see if you are connected to 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wifi network. Note: Different Android phones might have different settings.
Using a computer or laptop.
Step One: Connect your computer to wifi network. On your taskbar, click the Wifi icon on the right bottom of your computer or laptop screen or go to the Windows settings > Network and Internet.
Step Two: Click the Properties button on your connected Wifi network.
Step Three: Once you are in the network properties, you can check if the network band is 2.4GHz or 5GHz wifi network. (Note: Different Microsoft window might be different settings)
Important Note: All Sifely Smart lock Products need a Wifi bridge or Sifely gateway when connecting to Wifi networks.
