How to install a door latch correctly (Inward or Outward Swing)?

How do I determine the proper latch tongue direction when installing my Sifely Smart Lock?

Answer:

When installing the latch mechanism, it is important to know the correct latch orientation to avoid installation issues.

The latch tongue has two Sides, the beveled side and a bumpy side.

Determine the door Swing direction

• Inward-swinging door: Opens into the room.
• Outward-swinging door: Opens out of the room.

Whether your door is an Inward or Outward door swing, the beveled edge of the latch bolt should face the direction the door closes from (Door frame) so it easily slides into the striker plate.
