Why does my Deadbolt only work with a key? Why is it doing the opposite?

Why does my Deadbolt only work with a key? Did I install the Sifely-E Deadbolt incorrectly?

Answer

This could be a calibration issue, and it will require some reinstalling steps. 

1. Determine whether the lock will be installed on the Right or Left side of the door (from the inside view) 

2. Install the Front Panel and make sure the spindle is inserted at a vertical orientation.
3. Ensure that the calibration switch is set to the “L” or “R” based on the install position being Left or Right. (see the red arrow in the picture below)      

 4.  Finally, note that the Left and Right thumb knobs are different. 

      Left: The thumb knob will be set to a lock position in a verticle position      

Right:: The thumb knob will be set to a lock position in a horizontal position.
